Trade & Quality Matters in Turkey

In cooperation with the Kahramanmaraş Industry and Business Association (Kasiad), the ICA will be delivering a 2-day training course on ‘Trade & Quality Matters’ from 13-14 May 2024 in in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey.

The training will encompass both practical and theoretical content, with participants having the opportunity to delve into the classification and quality assessment of cotton, commercial issues, dispute resolution, and arbitration. It will be delivered by Dr. Robert Jiang (ICA Business Operation & Development Manager), Mr.David Wookey (ICA Technical Arbitrator and W&W Cotton Consultancy Limited) and Ms. Casandra German (ICA Safe Trading Officer).

What modules will the training cover?

  1. What are the Roles of the ICA?
  2. How to Make a Clear, Concise and Complete Contract?
  3. How to Ensure a Smooth Contract Performance?
  4. Letter of Credit and Logistics
  5. What Are the Agents/Brokers’ Functions?
  6. How to Resolve Claims, Disputes Through Amicable Settlement, Mediation and Arbitration?
  7. What are Manual Classing’s Principle and Procedures?
  8. Understand HVI Testing, Its Parameters and Calculation
  9. How to Calculate Allowances Using Quality Standards and Value Differences
  10.  What are the Procedures, Timeframes, Fees of Arbitration and Appeal?
  11. How to Ensure Safe Trading – List of Unfulfilled Awards and Protection
  12. Importance of ICA Membership – Rights, Engagement, Networking, Protection, Benefits, Influences
  13. Textile Processes, Spinnability, Traceability and Beyond

The training will conclude with an exam, with a certificate issued to those who successfully pass.

All training will be delivered in English.

Who can attend?

The training is open to anyone with an interest in the modules as long as their company name does not feature on the ICA’s Lists of Unfulfilled Awards.

The cost is 4.500 Turkish Lira
