Jonathan is a Level 3 qualified ICA Arbitrator and has 35 years’ experience in the cotton trading industry, previously working for Baumann Hinde, Central Cotton in UK and Louis Dreyfus Company in Geneva.

Returning to UK in 2019 , Jon now has his own consultancy and is a qualified ICA technical arbitrator and ICA Bremen Quality Expert.

Experience

David started his career as a trainee trader with A. Meredith Jones
& Co. Ltd. before starting his own trading company in 2000. Fluent in French, David is an English native language speaker.
David is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a consultant at The International Dispute Resolution Centre (The IDR Group) and holds a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from Queen Mary’s University, London.

Jean-Marc holds ICA arbitration qualifications Level 3 and has been a cotton trader for 21 years, becoming Managing Director of a Liverpool firm in 2009, and Global Head of Cotton Trading at Engelhart Commodities Trading Partners in 2014.

When did you start arbitrating or length of arbitration career?

Nigel started conducting arbitrations in 1994 and mediations in 1998 before moving on to chairing arbitrations in 2001.

Mr Scott has experience advising on disputes, including being active as an arbitrator for the International Cotton Association for over 31 years, having been a tribunal member, chaired tribunals at first tier, and chaired second tier appeal tribunals, and been representative on appeal tribunals, for multiple cases every year from 1993 to the present day (in excess of ~150 cases). Additionally acted as a Mediator for commodity disputes on a number of occasions.

Technical Arbitrator.
Additionally, acted as an Expert Witness in numerous commodity arbitration and court Hearings on commodity disputes internationally: Mr. Scott leverages his unique combination of arbitration, commodity trading and multi product banking experience to provide trade and corporate finance, valuation and damages expert services to law firms and their clients. As such, he is very familiar with the role of expert evidence in a dispute, which is useful experience when conducting arbitrations.

Mr. Scott has prepared expert evidence and testified for US commodity related litigations over the last two decades (2005 - present day). In addition, he has testified as an expert witness on material HKIAC (Hong Kong International Arbitration Court) (2024) and significant LCIA (London Court of International Arbitration) commodity disputes (2024 & 2025); Mr Scott has testified on a large Singapore High Court interpleader commodity matter (2024-2025) in the Singapore Supreme Court and testified on a high value AAA (American Arbitration Association) commodity case in 2025 in Washington DC. Mr Scott is highly experienced at testifying as an individual (direct, presentation and cross examination), and has testified both individually and on a ‘hot tubbing basis’.
