Three more speakers confirmed for Liverpool 2013

Three more speakers will take to the stage at our Liverpool 2013 global trade event, which takes place on 24 and 25 October in Liverpool’s Hilton hotel and St George’s Hall.

Terry Townsend (International Cotton Advisory Committee – ICAC), Aldo Pienzi and Daniele Arioldi (I Cotoni Di Albini SPA) will join the China National Cotton Exchange’s Baofu Yang at the two-day event to deliver a series of presentations to the 500 strong delegation.
In one of his final public appearances before retiring from his role as ICAC’s Executive Director, Terry Townsend (pictured) said: “The cotton gin was invented a little over two centuries ago. In the decades since, the cotton industry has developed as separate national industries with parochial practices related to production, storage and the trading of cotton. Such practices worked fine in their day, but with the shift in mill use toward Asia, increased interfiber competition and pressure on margins caused by changes in the structure of the world economy, the world cotton industry cannot continue with inefficient practices.
“The industry must rise beyond commercial relationships to standardise practices, build demand and ensure sustainable methods. The theme of the ICA Trade Event in 2013, ‘Stronger Together’, is a perfect umbrella for the advancement of these concepts.”
