Pakistan cotton standards information

The ICA has recently received a number of enquiries about whether there is any change to the system that sets out the official Pakistan Cotton Standards.

We contacted the Karachi Cotton Association who has kindly provided the following information – we hope you find it useful:

Post 1990, with the introduction of Cotton Standardisation system by the Pakistan Cotton Standards Institute under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and now under the Ministry of Textile, Government of Pakistan, new boxes were introduced as under: SUPER, ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE. These were declared official and recognised by the Government of Pakistan and used for arbitration purposes from November 1990. The function of making Standard Grade Boxes has been the responsibility of the Pakistan Cotton Standards Institute as per Cotton Standardisation Rules, 2002 under Cotton Standardisation Ordinance No. LXIV of 2002.
