As part of our long term strategy in Bangladesh, we made a return visit last month to the nation’s capital, Dhaka, where we met with cotton’s key stakeholders to help reinforce existing relationships and develop new ones.
Led by ICA First Vice President, Jürg Reinhart, who was accompanied by ICA Director, Jamie Welsh and ICA Managing Director, Kai Hughes, the delegation held a series of meetings with senior figures in the cotton trade, local dignitaries and delegates from the Bangladesh Cotton Association.
On the final day of the visit, the ICA delivered a presentation to 50 mills on its planned initiatives to improve relationships and resolve outstanding awards.
Speaking after the visit, Jürg said: “There is no doubt that these visits are useful in building trust to enable us to work in partnership with local organisations to resolve the current issues in Bangladesh. This will take some time, but there is now a better understanding of the ICA and its Bylaws & Rules and a keen desire to look to the future.”
The visit was arranged and coordinated by local ICA Member, Hissam Khandker and it was covered by the Bangla national press. Read one of the articles here >
