ICA position statement on the slave trade

The Liverpool based International Cotton Association (ICA) was established in 1841, after British Parliament passed the Abolition of Slavery Act in 1833.

The ICA acknowledges the historic involvement its forefathers played in the transatlantic slave trade.

No organisation could be proud of this legacy.

Today, diversity and equitable trading is at the heart of the ICA’s operation. Its Board of Directors and international membership represents all corners of the globe and it actively promotes responsible trading.
