Cotton community raises £9.8K for charity

Thanks to the generosity of cotton delegates at our ‘Liverpool 2013’ trade event, more than GBP £9,813.21 was raised for local charity, ‘Autism Initiatives’ and ICA Managing Director, Kai Hughes, presented them with the cheque.

Sue Murphy, Head of Fundraising and Media for Autism Initiatives said: “This is a staggering amount of money, which will be put to immediate and effective use at our award winning social enterprise café in Southport – A Great Little Place.
The purpose of all our social enterprises is to provide crucial work experience, training and employment opportunities for our service users, so this donation means that we will be able to offer even more opportunities to even more people with autism. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to this – thank you.”
Autism Initiatives has been providing direct care and support to people with autism for over 40 years. Globally, autism affects one person in every 100 and its effects can be devastating. There is no cure, but with the right support at the right time, people with autism can lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.
