A new leadership team has been voted in at the ICA following our annual general meeting, which took place earlier this month during the association’s Liverpool 2021 Hybrid trade event.
Mr Alex Hsu (Managing Director, Formosa Trading Co Ltd) takes on the role of ICA President. Alex will be supported by Mr Tim North (Global Head of Merchandising – ECOM USA Inc) as First Vice-President and the ICA’s first female officer, Ms Kim Hanna (President – TransGlobal Inspections) as Second Vice-President.
New to the board are Mr Josep Barderi (Violar S.A.), Mr William Barksdale (Cargill Inc. representing US region) and Ms Fabiana Furlan (Scheffer representing Brazil).
On accepting the role of President, Alex says:
“It is a great honor to serve the cotton industry as ICA President. These are challenging times for all of us in the cotton community, and my hope is to be able to guide the Association back towards normalcy. I look forward to working with all the Officers, Directors, and members in the coming year. I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Directors William Barksdale, Josep Barderi, and Fabiana Furlan – and an especially enthusiastic welcome to the ICA’s first female Officer, Kim Hanna. We thank you for your dedicated service to the ICA.”
Alex Hsu joined the family agency business – Formosa Trading – in 1993, where he is now Managing Director. Based in Taipei, Taiwan, Formosa Trading has been a cotton selling agent for over 50 years, with operations in China and Indonesia.
He has also worked in the past for management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, and in internet commerce for eBay.
Alex joined the ICA Board of Directors 2015 and is currently Chairman of the Agents Working Group.
Comprising 23 members, the new board line-up continues to represent the ICA’s global membership across all sectors of the supply chain and builds on its commitment to engage the entire global cotton community.
